Welcome to the Family Tree Maker 2005 Getting Started Tutorial. We hope this introduction to Family Tree Maker will give you a good basis of understanding to begin building your Family File. You will be able to obtain more extensive information from other Help resources listed at the end of this tutorial, including built-in resources and online resources.
To use this tutorial, simply start at the beginning (on this Getting Started page), read to the end of the page and press the Next link at the bottom of the page to go to the next page. You can always use your browser back button to return to the last page. Click the Hide button in the upper-right corner of this help file to hide the Contents, Index, and Search tabs while you read this tutorial. This is the recommended way to read this tutorial.
Or, if you choose to use the Contents tab, notice the icons that look like books. Those are chapter headings. Click on a book to "open" the book and view the pages within. Then, click on each page to view the contents of the page.
You can also skip around by going to the Index
tab and selecting a specific entry, or the Search
tab to search for words or phrases that may be contained in a Help topic.
