Program Help
Family Tree Maker has its own built-in help program, a great resource for finding answers to your questions. Use the blue question mark in the toolbar to get help for the area you’re in, or go to the Help menu for help on all topics.

Update Patch
A free patch is available to Family Tree Maker 2006 users. This patch will update their program so that it is at the same level at Family Tree Maker 16.

Family Tree Maker’s Knowledge Base
Get free assistance 24 hours a day by searching our knowledge base or asking our technical support group a question. You may either search the database for previously asked questions, or submit a new question and get a personal response.

Message Board Forums
Communicate with fellow Family Tree Maker users.  You can use the Forums to ask questions, or just to interact with other users and discuss the product. Visit either the GenForums on Genealogy.com or the Ancestry.com Message Boards. Or you may post your questions to the Family Tree Maker Discussion List.

Telephone Support
Live phone support is available at $2.00 per minute. The phone number for live support is 800-326-8733. You will be billed for the time spent by the technical support representative on the phone answering your specific questions. Callers with issues pertaining to installation, converting data from a previous version or accessing online subscriptions may be eligible for free phone support by calling 801-705-7601 during the hours noted below (toll charges apply). Technical Support can be reached by phone Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday from 7 AM to 12 noon. All hours are Mountain Time, do not include holidays, and are subject to change.

Ancestry.com and Genealogy.com – together, these two sites represent the largest collection of family history records available on the Internet.  Hundreds of millions of records are searchable from the comfort of your home, including all available US Census records (1790-1930), family and local histories, birth, marriage and death records, immigration records, newspapers and more.


RootsWeb – The site contains extensive interactive guides and numerous research tools for tracing family histories. RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project contains more than 209 million ancestor names.  The site also boasts approximately 22,000 mailing lists and 125,000 message boards. RootsWeb hosts such notable websites as Cyndi's List, USGenWeb Project, and the National Genealogical Society.


MyFamily.com – MyFamily.com provides a unique venue to connect families on the World Wide Web. In a secure, password-protected environment, MyFamily.com users can hold family discussions, create online family photo albums, maintain a calendar of family events and share family history information quickly and easily.


PeopleFinder – a tool to find long-lost relatives and friends with whom you’ve lost contact.
